Butter Dip Biscuits

Holy Lord.

Butter Dip Biscuits.

The biscuit for the non-biscuit baker.  I just can't get over these.

Thank you, Brandie from The Country CookI'm acting like I know her.
I just want to know her because she changed my life with this recipe.

Now these come together quick so stay close.

You start with a stick of melted butter.  Which basically guarantees the success of any recipe.
Still with me?  Just melt it in the microwave right in the pan you're going to use for the biscuits.

Mix up your dry ingredients.

Now pour in your buttermilk.

Mix up the dough until it's loose and sticky - don't over mix this.  It will look like a hot mess.  Don't worry though, it's all part of the magic.

Pat the dough down into the pan (butter will be everywhere - this is a good thing) and cut the dough into squares.

Now bake 20-25 minutes at 450 until golden brown.
And all of the sudden, you have biscuits!

See?  Mind = blown.
I mean, just look at this little guy.

Let's get him dressed up a bit:

Butter Dip Biscuits. Heaven.

Butter Dip Biscuits
Recipe from The Country Cook

1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
4 tsp. granulated sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. kosher salt
1 3/4 cup buttermilk

Preheat oven to 450 F. Spray an 8-inch square baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
Melt a stick of butter in the microwave. Pour the melted butter into the bottom of your 8×8 pan.
In a large bowl mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Pour in the buttermilk. Stir just until the dough comes together. It will be very sticky and somewhat loose.
Using your hands, press biscuit dough into your baking dish and on top of the melted butter. Some of the butter will end up on the surface and that’s OK! It will all bake together in the oven.
Take a sharp knife and cut the biscuit dough into 9 squares before baking. Bake for about 20-25 minutes. Mine took 22 minutes. Just make sure they are golden brown and they should bounce back when you touch them.
